After successfully convening an Ocean of Caring National Child Care Conference in June 2007, Child Care Connection NS is pleased to be partnering with sister organizations, Centre provincial de ressources préscolaires, Certification Council of Early Childhood Educators of NS, and Nova Scotia Child Care Association in presenting this annual Child Care Conference.

This event is attended by around 250 members of the child care community, including practitioners, administrators, and members of child care organizations and associations from across Atlantic Canada. The conference includes three workshop series on various topics on creativity that impact the child care community, a trade show of over 30 exhibitors of interest to the participants, a Recognition and Awards dinner, and a keynote speaker. The conference is meant to give professionals in the child care field the opportunity to network and connect with their colleagues, while gaining important skills and knowledge to help them in providing the highest quality care possible. The ECLC Awards of Excellence in Program and Practice are presented at the Awards and Recognition Dinner on Friday.

Financial Assistance for Continuing Education for Child Care Program Staff

There are numerous professional development opportunities offered through post secondary ECEC training programs. Individuals who are working in a child care program who want to continue their education and enhance skills and qualifications may be eligible for the Continuing Education Program for Child Care Staff. This program will also assist individuals interested in attaining an Early Childhood Education (ECE) credential part-time while working in licensed child care.
"The program will provide reimbursement for continuing education courses to eligible staff working in licensed child care centers or family home day care (FHDC) agencies. Eligible childcare staff includes teachers, directors, assistant directors, special needs teachers and family home day care consultants who have worked in a licensed child care centre or FHDC agency for at least six months prior to the start date of the course."
