Who Can be a Member?

Anyone, 18 years or older, who agrees with the objects of the association can be a member.

Why Become a Member?

  • The NSCCA recognizes that child care practitioners provide a valuable service to society and are the main ingredient in high quality child care. The NSCCA works toward its members being recognized as professionals in their field.

 

  • Members of the NSCCA have many services available to them, including ethics mentoring, a code of ethics, professional development, and advocacy and lobbying for members' needs.

 

  • As an NSCCA member, your voice will be heard through the advocacy of a recognized association; you will be able to share your feelings and concerns in a safe and professional environment; and you will be part of an important group, working toward making the child care profession the best it can be.

Entitlements as a Member

  • Professional development activities related to issues that impact your work
  • Newsletter
  • Code of Ethics
  • Standards of Practice Publication
  • Pin and Certificate
  • Voting members must possess an Early Childhood Care and Education certificate, diploma or degree, or have completed the Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) process
  • Non-voting members include those in the PLAR process and/or those who don't possess the ECCE certificate, diploma or degree (including students working toward a certificate, diploma or degree)
  • NSCCA is an affiliate member of the Canadian Child Care Federation
  • and as such as a NSCCA member you are entitled to:
  • Four issues of Interaction magazine each year
  • Four resource sheets per year
  • Free copies of many project products as they are first released
  • One vote at the CCCF Annual General Meeting
  • Access to the Policy Knowledge and Response Network web site

Other important Information

  • Membership runs from May 1 of one year to April 30 of the following year.
  • Current membership fees are $25.00 per year.
